When affiliated with e-commerce domestically and internationally, Brazil is probably one of the most complicated and time consuming when it comes to compliance and regulations. Brazil, a fast growing and top dominator in global e-commerce, were estimated of generating close to $19 billion in online sales in 2015. While Latin America over all was generating nearly $50 billion in 2015.
No doubt Latin America is a land with many promises in the e-commerce industry, but that’s only if the right cards are played and you know the ins-and-out of Brazil’s compliance and regulations. The right person or company should be contacted to first learn compliance, then learn how to target this large market. But be ready, because everyone wants their own share of this market. With recent regulations being in effect, a consumer protection code will be discussed and who to contact for further information.
Find the right consultant. One of the most important parts when working in the e-commerce industry, is knowing someone who understands every regulation compliance in existence. They will make sure that your business continues to grow as projected. They are key to making things happen properly and efficiently. Having the right consultant with the right amount of years of experience and up-to-date with what is occurring will alleviate the stress of dealing with much more complicated situations.
There is a defense code in particular that is important to understand in the Brazilian e-commerce industry. Any outstanding consultant can further discuss if you are following the next two codes properly or what you should know ahead of time.
Decree No. 7.962. This code was applied with intent of consumer protection. Any e-commerce business is regulated to inform the consumer clearly of the goods, services, and/or suppliers being offered. With a length 10 articles, the code has a complete description of what to avoid and how to properly adjust any company that wants to be part of this large market.
Understanding regulations and having the right e-commerce consultant is extremely important for any company or individual that would like to tamper with Brazil’s e-commerce market share.
